TelevisaUnivision, the Mexican broadcast heavyweight, has agreed a partnership with tech giant Apple to provide Spanish-language coverage of motor racing’s elite Formula 1 (F1) series in the US.

Through the deal, the broadcaster’s US-based network Univision will simulcast one race, with dedicated pre- and post-race programming tailored specifically for Spanish-speaking viewers. The specific race to be broadcast will be announced at a later date.

In addition, TelevisaUnivision will promote Apple TV’s F1 coverage throughout the season across its platforms. This will include race highlights on Univision and TUDN.

There will be particular interest in Sergio Perez, the only Mexican driver in F1, who will compete for the new Cadillac team.

TelevisaUnivision’s parent company, Grupo Televisa, holds broadcast rights to F1 in Mexico through the 2028 season, under a deal announced last October.

Marco Liceaga, senior vice president of sports rights acquisitions and commercial partnerships at TelevisaUnivision, said: “Formula 1 is one of the fastest growing sports in the US, and as the sport's official broadcast partner in Mexico, we've seen firsthand how deeply Hispanic fans connect with it. We’re excited to work with Apple in expanding our coverage of the sport.”

Apple holds exclusive F1 rights in the US from the start of the upcoming 2026 season through the end of the 2030 campaign, under a deal signed last October worth roughly $140 million per year.

The tech heavyweight recently entered into a new broadcast agreement with global streaming platform Netflix to share select F1 programming.

Under the deal, Netflix gains rights to simulcast the Canadian Grand Prix in the US, with the subscription service to air the full race weekend – including practice, qualifying, and the race itself on May 24 – live on its platform.

Apple, meanwhile, will simulcast the eighth season of Netflix’s hit series Drive to Survive – covering the 2025 F1 season – in the US on its Apple TV+ streaming service.

The addition of F1 enhances TelevisaUnivision’s Spanish-language sports rights portfolio, which already includes Mexican soccer’s Liga MX and Liga MX Femenil, Leagues Cup, the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, the Mexican men’s and women’s national teams, the Concacaf Nations League, Gold Cup, and Champions Cup, UEFA European qualifiers, Major League Baseball, and the United Soccer League.

The 11-team 2026 F1 season begins with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on Sunday (March 8) and will run through 24 rounds until the final race in Abu Dhabi in early December.
