TLN Telelatino Network announced today an agreement with Univision Sports, a division of the number 1 Spanish language broadcaster in the United States, Univision Communications, granting TLN exclusive Canadian rights to certain Univision Sports programming, including the Copa America, one of the oldest and most prestigious international soccer tournaments in the world.

The agreement will see Telelatino broadcast all 26 games of the Copa America soccer tournament live from Colombia this summer from July 11 to July 29. The arrangement also includes Canadian broadcast rights for the highly rated Spanish-language sports news program Republica Deportiva and weekly boxing event Solo Boxeo.

‘We are very excited about the Copa America tournament this summer. It is a historic continental competition with 11 Latin national teams and Canada participating by special invitation. We expect a big Canadian following,’ said Aldo Di Felice, President of Telelatino. ‘It also marks the next step in Telelatino’s ongoing relationship with Univision, which already includes two hours daily of the top shows Cristina and Primer Impacto.’

A spokesperson for Univision stated: ‘At Univision Sports we’ve been looking to expand our involvement in the Canadian market, and this arrangement has given us the means to do that. I have no doubt that Canadian sports fans will be very happy with the results of this collaboration.’
