BeIN Sports increases exposure in Canada with Shaw Cable tie-up
BeIN Sports is now available across all major television providers in Canada after the international sports broadcaster secured a distribution agreement with Shaw Communications, the telecoms company.
BeIN Sports, which has been available on the telecoms firm’s Shaw Direct service since 2015, is now accessible to Shaw Cable and Shaw Direct Satellite TV customers.
As a result of the agreement, Shaw customers will now be able to watch coverage of LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1, and the Championship, as well as international soccer matches and European rugby.
BeIN Sports is also available on Bell, MTS, Cogeco, Eastlink, Rogers, Telus and Videotrom platforms in Canada.
Earlier this week, BeIN Sports agreed a content deal with DAZN, the over-the-top streaming service owned by digital sports content and media group Perform, to provide the streaming platform with some of its soccer rights in Canada.
The agreement provides DAZN with a strong slate of European soccer, principally the top leagues in Spain, Italy and France, as well as pan-European club competitions the Uefa Champions League and Europa League and Fifa World Cup qualifiers for Conmebol (South America) and Concacaf (North and Central America and the Caribbean).
European rugby union's newly-renamed PRO14, which includes two South African franchises alongside established teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Italy this season, and motor cycling's MotoGP World Championship will also be made available through the BeIN Sports' tie-up.
