IMG deepens eSports involvement with launch of gaming content platform
IMG, the international sports and entertainment agency, has expanded its involvement in electronic gaming with the launch of a new eSports online tutorial platform.
The Boomeo platform features video content and instructional videos from the Counter Strike: Global Offensive video game, which is developed by publishers Valve Cooperation and Hidden Path Entertainment.
Boomeo is a partnership between IMG and professional eSports organisations Cloud9, compLexity, Counter Logic Gaming, G2 Esports and SK Gaming, along with professional players.
IMG said statistics, leaderboards and other training tools would be added to the platform in the near future.
Subscription to Boomeo costs $9.99 a month, with the option of a free two-day trial.
Karen Brodkin, IMG president of business affairs, said: “The launch of Boomeo speaks to our continued investment in the esports industry and our focus on delivering premium and accessible content to consumers. Boomeo is ahead of the curve with its innovative training functionality, and we are excited to develop the platform as a go-to for serious gamers and those looking for an easy entry point to esports.”
WME-IMG, IMG’s parent company, is the co-founder of the ELeague eSports competition, which it launched with Turner, the US media group, last year.
