Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive robotics-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 20%, emerged as the top robotics-related job roles within the sports industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 16% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 15% in Q3 2023, with new job postings rising by 3% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent robotics roles include Management Occupations with a 9% share in Q3 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in sports industry accounted for 26% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Amazon, ABB, Tesla, Robert Bosch, and International Business Machines. Together they accounted for a combined share of 26% of all robotics-related new jobs in the sports industry.

Amazon posted 460 robotics-related new jobs in Q3 2023, ABB 410 jobs, Tesla 375 jobs, Robert Bosch 189 jobs, and International Business Machines 177 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 53.60% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of robotics-related new job postings in the sports industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 53.60% followed by India (12.34%) and Mexico (3.92%). The share represented by the US was 13 percentage points higher than the 41.06% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
