Formula One (F1), the prestigious motor racing series, has announced a multi-year partnership with cruise operator MSC Cruises for the 2022 season.
The partnership, which began at yesterday’s (March 20) season-opening race in Bahrain, sees MSC Cruises become the official cruise partner of the series.
As part of the deal, MSC will showcase some of its most technologically advanced ships during select race weekends and use the series to advertise its holiday at sea offerings to F1’s fanbase.
The two parties will also work together to continue their drive towards sustainable change. Both companies have committed to becoming Net-Zero Carbon.
Pier Francesco Vago, MSG Cruises’ executive chairman, said: “There is a strong shared ambition between us and F1 as we are both committed to investing in research to accelerate the development and adoption of next-generation technologies – both maritime and environmental in our case – to build the future of our industries in a sustainable way.
“We are both working to continuously improve environmental performance with a clear vision to build a lasting legacy for future generations. We are looking forward to developing our relationship together as this exciting season unfolds.”

By GlobalDataLast week, MSC Cruises suspended its deal with beleaguered English soccer club Chelsea after the Premier League’s side’s Russian Owner Roman Abramovich was hit with sanctions by the UK government and had his assets frozen following his country’s invasion of Ukraine.
The company most recently signed a three-year renewal with the club in 2021.
Meanwhile, F1 has also penned a new deal with AlphaTauri, the fashion brand owned by energy drinks giant Red Bull.
Under the two-year deal, AlphaTauri becomes the official premium fashion apparel supplier of the series and will provide uniforms for all F1 personnel, including senior staff and presenters.
Stefano Domenicali, president and chief executive of F1, said: “We are very pleased to announce that AlphaTauri will be the apparel supplier to F1 with their modern and stylish clothing being worn by our staff during the races.
“F1 is the perfect environment to develop fashion in its unique landscape of sport and entertainment.”
AlphaTauri, founded in 2016, also has a long-term partnership with F1 racing team Scuderia AlphaTauri, formerly Toro Rosso, which began in 2020.
