Two of the biggest names in world sport have both praised Madrid’s bid to host the Olympics and Paralympics in 2016.
The fastest man on earth, Jamaica’s Olympic and World Champion sprinter Usain Bolt and the Portuguese and Real Madrid football star Cristiano Ronaldo told journalists at the opening of the Spanish La Liga football season that the city would be a great place to host the Olympics in 2016.
” I will pray for Madrid to host the Olympics in 2016 because I’d love to watch live all athletics events here,” Ronaldo told journalists at Real Madrid on Sunday.
And Bolt, who made a special appearance at the Bernabeu to mark the opening of the football season said: “After the welcome I have had, I would really love to run here. This weather is incredible. I wish the 2016 Olympics are held here. Surely they’ll do a great job. The city has thrown itself into the bid and it has many facilities.
The International Olympic Committee’s Evaluation Commission publish their report on the four rival bids this Wednesday. (September 2nd)
