Nomination Marks the Second Consecutive Year Nike Has Been Honored By The Magazine

Beaverton, Ore. – The Nike Air Presto running shoe has been nominated for the Most Wired Product Design award by WIRED Magazine’s Readers Raves 2000. The publication’s annual opinion poll selects the people, products and web sites that ignite the world around us.

This is Nike’s second consecutive nomination; the famed Air Rift split-toe running shoe was nominated in 1999.

In April, WIRED editors created 17 different categories that reflect areas of the most competitive and innovative growth in technology during the past year. These categories are based on elements of innovation, design, functionality, cultural impact, commercial viability and all-around ‘wiredness’. They range from Most Wired Product Design to Top Web Hangout to Best Startup CEO.

Along with readers, some of the most influential minds in the technology, business, entertainment and media industries offered their opinions about the ‘best in tech.’ Based on their answers, the Editorial Brain Trust at WIRED selected five nominees for each category.

An online voting booth began July 11 and runs through August 15. Votes can be cast at www.readersraves.com. Thousands of WIRED Readers are expected to visit the site.

The winners will be announced at the Annual Readers Raves Awards Gala in San Francisco on October 12, 2000.
