Leicestershire County Cricket Club today announced that David Wilson, Chairman of Wilson Bowden Plc has agreed to become the Club’s first President under its new constitution.

Commenting, Club Chairman, Neil Davidson said, ‘We are absolutely delighted that a prestigious Leicestershire businessman of the calibre of David Wilson has agreed to become the Club’s new President’.

In other moves announced today, the Club has appointed John Price, Company Secretary. John holds a similar position in a number of companies, in particular Arla Foods UK Plc. John is a barrister by profession.

In addition, well-known Leicestershire Surveyor, Andrew York has accepted the Club’s invitation to join the Board. This follows the resignation of former Club Chairman, Brian Groves. Andrew received the highest number of votes amongst those not elected to the board last summer.

Commenting further, Neil Davidson said:

‘In an increasingly litigious age in sport, having John Price, a qualified barrister, as Company Secretary, will help the Club handle legal matters more effectively and Andrew York will bring a new level of expertise to the Board regarding property matters, as well as other skills and experience which could prove invaluable as the Board develops its plans to improve the Grace Road facility’.

‘Brian Groves was Chairman throughout a very difficult period in the Club’s history and he leaves the Board with our thanks and best wishes’.
