The top ranked amateur players (England and Scotland’s number 1’s) have turned professional following the Walker Cup and make their European Tour debuts in the star studded field at this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

For 20 year old Sam Hutsby from Hampshire, the Walker Cup was the pinnacle of his outstanding amateur career, which this year included victory at the European Nations Tournament in Spain and runner up honors at The Amateur Championship and Spanish International Amateur Championship.

Scottish player Gavin Dear, 25, from Perth, had an excellent amateur career which included individual wins in the Dixie Men’s Amateur Championship (Florida), the Irish Amateur Stroke Play Championship and the Craigmillar Park Open. In addition, Gavin was an integral part of the Scottish Teams that won both the World and European Amateur Team Championships.

Wasserman’s Vice President & Head of Golf (EMEA), Brendan Taylor said of the signings: “ We are absolutely delighted to have signed Sam and Gavin, who are two of the best prospects from the amateur game and we are looking forward to managing them as they make their transition to the professional game.”

Sam Hutsby said: I’m really excited to have joined a company like Wasserman. Brendan and the golf division offer a really personal and supportive management service. There is also the benefit of the company being global and managing stars such as Hunter Mahan, Michael Owen and Jonny Wilkinson. I’m now just looking forward to my professional career and focusing on my golf, knowing that everything else will be taken care of.

Said Gavin Dear: “I’m confident that the personal approach that Brendan and his team have, will significantly help me in achieving all my goals. As a member of Carnoustie Golf Club I can’t wait to make my professional debut on home soil at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.”
