The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced Washington D.C. as the host city for the 2003 USA v Italy World Group Quarterfinal tie on 19-20 July.
The US Fed Cup team, under the guidance of Captain Billie Jean King, will face 2002 semifinalists Italy at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Centre, a public tennis centre located in Rock Creek Park, Washington D.C.
On hearing that Washington D.C. had been selected as the venue for this tie, Mayor Anthony A. Williams commented: ‘We are delighted that the USTA has chosen Washington D.C. for this prestigious international event…
The Fed Cup represents the diversity and international popularity of the sport and we look forward to hosting the US Fed Cup team, our visiting guests from Italy, and all those who plan to attend the event.’
The line-up for the 2003 World Group Quarterfinals to be played on 19-20 July is now complete.

USA v ITA: William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Centre, Washington D.C, USA. (Hard, outdoors).
BEL v SVK: Spiroudome, Charleroi, BEL. (Hard, indoors).
SLO v RUS: SRC Marina Portoroz, Portoro, SLO. (Clay, outdoors).
ESP v FRA: Escuela de Tenis Municipal Parque del Oeste, Oviedo, ESP. (Clay, outdoors).
