The Congress, convening all 203 FIFA member national associations on 4 and 5 August in the Messe Zurich, will discuss a proposal that has been put forward by four Caribbean federations to abolish the Executive Committee vice-presidency historically held by the four British associations. This post would become that of a member and would be allocated to UEFA. Another proposal, from the Oceania region, calls for the member position held by OFC to be promoted to a vice-presidency.

The Congress will define the duties and responsibilities of the National Associations Committee, the Football Committee, the Strategic Study Committee and the Marketing and Television Advisory Board. These four bodies were set up in 1998, but their duties have not yet been incorporated into the Statutes.

In addition, the Bhutan Football Federation’s application to become FIFA’s 204th member national association will be voted upon.

The Congress will also hear reports on developments regarding a number of projects and initiatives, including the harmonisation of the international calendar, the Goal financial aid programme, relations with political authorities, and the establishment of football arbitration tribunals.
