What: Vonage, the pioneering Internet telephone company and new sponsor of UK Athletics, will announce the five athletes they have chosen to form ‘Team Vonage’.
Who: Kerry Ritz – MD of Vonage UK will be accompanied by the five athletes, representing some of the hottest young British talent and established stars:
Tim Benjamin – British Number 1 in 2005 over 400 metres, the Welshman is aiming for Gold at the European Championships in 2006 and Olympic glory beyond that.
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey – Having completed an unprecedented 100m/200m double at the World Youth Championships in 2005, the teenager from Carshalton, Surrey, looks to be one of Britain ’s hottest young sprinters.
Abi Oyepitan – Having made the 100 metres final at the 2004 Athens Olympics, the Eton based sprinter will hope to beat Kathy Cooke’s 20 year-old British record over the next year and challenge for Olympic medals in Beijing.
Allan Scott – Norwich Union AAAs Champion over 110m hurdles in 2005, the Scotsman will be aiming to further improve on his results from last year and make the step up to World and European finals in the next couple of years.
Jessica Ennis – European Junior Heptathlon Champion last summer, the Sheffield star made her senior Championship debut at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and came away with a well-deserved Bronze medal. She is a genuine hope for further success for years to come.
