TVNZ Satellite Services has appointed ex-BBC and BSkyB specialist Jenny Webb to head its new regional office in Sydney, Australia.
Building on the success of its high-profile sports and news event delivery services, TVNZ Satellite Services has appointed broadcast specialist Jenny Webb to head its new regional office in Sydney. In addition to developing its global capabilities and consolidating the achievements of its Asia office, the expansion strengthens TVNZ’s commitment to the Australian market.
‘Our activity involves devising global carriage solutions for events that are staged worldwide’, says Sam Fairhall, General Manager of TVNZ Satellite Services.

There is no better way to achieve this than by being on hand with appropriate expertise, readily available. Jenny met the stringent requirements for a team player with substantial international expertise and experience. She is highly regarded in both the Australian and European markets and will be a tremendous asset to the company.’
Jenny Webb moved from the United Kingdom to Australia in 1998. Her most recent experience in Australia is with the Australian telecommunications giant, Telstra where she was Broadcast Alliance Manager with the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics Media and Broadcast Solutions unit. Prior to joining Telstra, Jenny spent six months working with the Sydney Olympics Broadcast Organisation (SOBO) as their Telecommunications Co-ordinator.
Jenny began her career in the mid-1980s with the International Operations Unit of the BBC, co-ordinating event coverage. During this period she was seconded to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). By 1989, Jenny headed the Events activities of BBC International Operations and was responsible for planning and co-ordinating all international programme requirements.
Jenny then joined BSkyB as Manager, Satellite Operations where she was responsible for the planning and establishment of all Satellite Operations. Jenny’s activities during her tenure with BSkyB extended to event production co-ordination. She also maintained her relationship with the EBU, overseeing BSkyB programme offers and rights negotiations with the EBU and its members. In 1990 and 1994, Jenny was seconded to News Corporation to oversee their requirements on the World Swimming Championships.
Jenny’s last two years in the United Kingdom were spent as Director of Operations for Newsforce.
During her extensive career, Jenny has worked on some of the major events/broadcasts that have been distributed to every corner of the globe and have captured the world’s attention, including Princess Diana’s Funeral, the Falklands War, ‘Live Aid’ and numerous Olympic Games.
Jenny’s new role is effective immediately.
