A press conference of announcing the opening of The World Games 2009 Pre-Events Series was held yesterday in front of Kaohsiung Arena. The Managing Director of Kaohsiung Organizing Committee, Mrs. Liu Shyh-Fang officially announced the opening of the Pre-Events and expressed that the ticket sales of Gymnastics and Korfball has hit the sales of 28000 and 3000 tickets respectively.

The first upcoming event starting from October 28 to November 6, the non-Olympics FIG disciplines such as individual Rhythmic Gymnastics, Synchronised Trampoline, Tumbling, Double Mini Trampoline, Aerobics and Acrobatics, will take place in newly-opened Kaohsiung Arena. There will be approximately 100 athletes from 4 continents and its semi-finals and final competitions will be live broadcasted in two domestic channels and ESPN Asia.

Another exciting International Water Ski Demonstration Event will be held from Nov 1 to Nov 2 for two days at Lotus Pond. The top ten Water Ski athletes will demonstrate the Jump and Wakeboard disciplines. The Water Ski demonstration will also be live broadcasted in ESPN Asia.

Telecommunication sponsor, Chunghwa Telecom, will also provide the four major platforms- MOD, emome, hiChannel and IPTV, to deliver coverage to different audiences. People in Taiwan will furthermore be able to watch these international events through their mobile phones and the audience around the world can watch the 2008 Pre-Events on Internet.
