On the evening of Thursday 28th February 2019, the sponsorship industry came together to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding sponsorship marketing campaigns of 2018 at the 2019 ESA Awards.

The glittery ceremony saw a plethora of UK and international winners crowned across 24 categories, including the ultimate kudos of winning ESA Best of Europe and ESA Sponsorship of the Year awards.

Now in its 12th year, the ESA Awards was created by the European Sponsorship Association (ESA), the membership body that seeks to inspire, unite and grow the sponsorship industry.

The ESA Awards celebrates the very best campaigns from Europe across a multitude of disciplines, including branded content, talent, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community, media and employee engagement, as well as the more established sporting and entertainment verticals.

ESA’s eminent ESA Sponsorship of the Year award sees the winners judged against each other, by an expert panel of independent judges.

The 2019 winner of ESA Sponsorship of the Year was revealed as Electric Ireland Game Changers Campaign.

Commenting on their win Electric Ireland said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to be backing a true partnership with the Irish FA to contribute to the 25% growth of girls’ and women’s football. It was amazing to see the Duchess of Cambridge visit the Irish FA’s home at Windsor Park to see enthusiastic young girls taking part in the Shooting Stars Game Changers programme encouraging young women into football.”

Andy Westlake, Chairman of the European Sponsorship Association, said:

“On behalf of ESA I’d like to congratulate all the winners. We had a record-breaking number of entries, and, as always, the decisions were passionately and diligently debated. However, the cream always rises to the top!

I’d also like to thank all our ESA Awards sponsors and partners, with special thanks to our main event sponsor, POWA Index and to category sponsor, SPONSORIUM.

The ESA Awards continues to provide the best showcase of creativity in sponsorship across Europe and I’m thrilled to be able to celebrate another fantastic year for the Association and to enjoy another great party!

Naturally, without the support of our members, the ESA Awards wouldn’t be the event it has become. I’d like to thank them all for their continued support. ESA has a crucial role to play to inspire, unite and grow the sponsorship industry and our members are at the heart of our mission.

I must also thank the judges – an amazing group of industry professionals that helped us to mark the submissions and decide on the final outcome.

The final part of the process was to decide the ESA Sponsorship of the Year – again we had a strong discussion, but Electric Ireland certainly have good reason to celebrate their win. Congratulations!”.

The ESA Awards showcases the very best work in the sponsorship industry across Europe. Every year ESA receives submissions from some of the most innovative, thought provoking and memorable sponsorship marketing campaigns.
