talkSPORT announced tonight it had won the exclusive ball by ball rights to The Ashes 2002/2003 cricket tour of Australia by England.

The UK’s first sports station has spent this winter exclusively covering the South Africa and Zimbabwe tour by the England Cricket Team.

Kelvin MacKenzie, chief executive of the station said: ‘This forms part of our long-term programming strategy to provide quality live sports coverage for our listeners.

‘Coverage works best for us when it’s not available on terrestrial television. Coverage of the England overseas cricket tour fulfils this criteria.’

talkSPORT’s has also successfully secured rights to Manchester United in the Champions League, FA Cup, the South African test series and World Championship Darts.
