As part of the long-term effort to promote sports development and bid for international sporting events, Taipei City and New Taipei City have joined forces to bid for the 2025 World Masters Games following the submission of the Statement of Intent on December 5th, 2019.

One day after the final bid presentation on October 21st, 2020, the International Masters Games Association (IMGA) officially announced on its website on October 22nd that it has decided to award the 2025 World Masters Games to Taipei City and New Taipei City, who are now ready to extend a warm welcome to sport lovers around the world to the Games in 2025.

Following Taiwan’s renowned success in hosting the 2017 Summer Universiade, Taipei and New Taipei aim to bring the 2025 World Masters Games to a higher level by integrating and sharing resources across the two cities.

The Games will be held at an opportune time to develop urban sports in the context of Taiwan’s aging population. The two cities, which boast diversity, inclusion, convenient transportation, and hospitality, have ranked as one of the most livable and friendliest cities in the world. Taipei is also known as an LGBT(I)-friendly destination in Asia.

Taipei and New Taipei look forward to receiving athletes and participants from around the world. The cities are confident in providing high-quality services and a memorable travel experience for all participants during the Games.
