Surrey County Cricket Club is to merge the recreational and professional game under the brand name, Surrey Cricket.

The Surrey Cricket Board will unite with the professional arm of the Club to form a new structure, Surrey Cricket. This will increase the potential for young Surrey cricketers to rise through the ranks as well as fully integrate Club cricket into Surrey Cricket’s base, at the Oval in South London.

David Stewart, the Chairman of Surrey Cricket Ltd said that:

‘This change will allow cricket in Surrey at all levels to work together for the future and the present. It will also ensure that Surrey remains the strongest domestic side and that we will continue to develop our youth and recreational cricket in the best possible environment.’

The redevelopment of the Vauxhall End is crucial to reinforcing the position of the Oval as the base of Surrey Cricket as it will allow greater facilities for everyone who enjoy cricket in Surrey.

Paul Sheldon, Chief Executive explained:

‘We recognised that the brand and the redevelopment had a powerful role to play in achieving our business objectives and attracting greater attention to the Oval. A strategic approach helped us to resolve our complex branding architecture and put us on the right track for the future.’

The logos have been created in partnership with Agenda Design Associates who were appointed by the club a year ago to help with highlighting Surrey Cricket’s objectives.

This restructure is demonstrated in the new Surrey Cricket logo. The design for this retains a reformed feathers in the traditional Surrey chocolate colour.

The new Oval logo is designed to compliment the Surrey Cricket feathers and in isolation. It exhibits the strong characteristics associated with the International appeal of the Oval and the redeveloped architecture and shape.

Paul Davis, Agenda’s Managing Director stated:

‘We recognised that the name and the shape created huge opportunity for the marketing potential of the ground, as well as symbolising the home of Surrey Cricket.’
