LA7, the Italian terrestrial channel, has acquired the exclusive rights to broadcast the Superbike World Championship for the next three years.

The broadcast deal between FGSPORT, international rights holders of the Superbike World Championship, and LA7 will commence on the 28th February in time for the start of the 2004 season.

Italian viewers will be able to watch in-depth coverage of all twelve world championship rounds of the Superbike and Supersport World Championships with additional coverage of Saturday’s qualifying Superpole.

The appeal of Superbike will further reinforce the relationship between LA7 and FGSPORT, and it also confirms the channels commitment to sport programming and its guarantee to provide expanded sport information coverage.

Director of Programming, LA7 Antonio Campo Dall’Orto said ‘LA7 has a natural tendency to be led by the passion and spirit of sport, providing importance to the essence of sport; competition, sacrifice and determination. Superbike is an excellent example of this. We are proud and convinced that this collaboration will help to attract young people and the growth of the sport in Italy.’

The FIM Superbike World Championship is the world’s premier production motorcycling series, with 12 international events, attracting over 1.1 million spectators and 2 billion TV viewers worldwide in 2003.

The first two appointments of the 2004 calendar:
Saturday, 28 February – Superpole (Live) & Sunday 29 February – Valencia, Spanish GP (Live)
Saturday 27 March – Superpole (Live) & Sunday 28 March – Phillip Island, Australia GP (Live)
