The Dallaglio Cycle Slam, a 2,800-kilometre cycle ride across Europe to raise money for the Sport Relief charity, and featuring several well-known names from the sports industry, is on track to meet its target of raising £1 million ($1.6 million) by the time it sets out from Rome on February 12.

The cycle slam, which aims to visit all six of the stadia that host matches of rugby union’s Six Nations Championship (Rome, Paris, London, Cardiff, Dublin and Edinburgh) in 28 days to watch a Six Nations match en route, is being led by Lawrence Dallaglio, the former England and British and Irish Lions rugby player.

The ride will also raise money for a range of other charities through Dallaglio’s Dallaglio Foundation, which will support Cancer Research UK, DebRA, the Help for Heroes campaign, the RPA Benevolent Fund and Leukaemia Research, among others.

The ride has signed up a range of sponsors, including cycling brands Giant and Giro, Nike, the sportswear giant, Oakley, the eyewear brand, and car company Range Rover.
