Sports.com Limited, Europe’s leading Internet and mobile data provider of sports content and publisher of www.sports.com, Europe’s most visited sports site, today announces the company is one of the first Internet companies to be awarded five accreditations by the International Olympic Committee (‘IOC’) to report from the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

Sports.com, one of only a limited number of Internet organisations to be accredited, will for the first time be able to produce original text and content from the Olympic Games.

‘We are delighted the IOC has recognized Sports.com as a full member of the Olympic media,’ said Tom Jessiman, Managing Director of Sports.com. ‘The IOC set stringent criteria for Web accreditation, which included having a significant audience and established credibility. Our ability to report directly from Salt Lake with our own unique coverage will strengthen our commitment to providing the best Olympic coverage to our global audience’.

In the Sydney Games, Sports.com achieved a single-day record of 6.5 million page views, an average during the Games of 4.2 million page views per day and 225,000 unique visitors per day. The audience during the Games represented a quadrupling of the Sports.com’s audience of less than a year ago and extended Sports.com’s leadership at the top of the European sports sites’ table.

Sports.com produced the official site of the French National Olympic Team as well as the leading Olympics coverage in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Spain.
