The European sports Internet company Sportal will shortly launch four new Australian websites, the first of which, an Australian Rules Football site, to go live next week.
While there are currently several Australian Rules sites on the web, Sportal believe their considerable expertise and wealth of resources can see them eclipse their established competition.
Ashley Browne, the managing editor of Sportal Australia, stated that the AFL site would not only include match reports, features and statistics but would also be able to carry as live match coverage.
Further to the iminent AFL site, Sportal are set launch Australian Rugby Union and Rugby League sites within the next two weeks. An Australian soccer site is set to follow shortly, which will be run as a joint venture with a media group yet to be announced.
Sportal’s position as one of the worlds leading sports internet companies has been consolidated further with the confirmation that they are the twelfth official Euro 2000 soccer championships sponsor and will also be responsible for the production of Uefa’s championship website.
