Sportal Australia, the leading global provider of interactive sports content, today announced that it had entered into a contract with Yahoo! Australia & NZ (www.yahoo.com.au) to provide content from Sportal’s general sports website(http://www.sportal.com.au/) to the Sport section of Yahoo! Australia & NZ (http://sport.yahoo.com.au/).

The content will include a daily top news story for each in-season sport, weekly expert columns from some of sports biggest names such as Andrew Gaze, Robbie Slater, Trent Croad, David Wilson and Robbie Slater and a sports radio show updated twice daily to give Yahoo! users access to the latest breaking sporting news.

Terms of the deal are confidential.

‘Yahoo! is a key destination for Australian web users,’ said Sportal Australia’s chief executive, Chris Hume. ‘It’s great to be able to expose their audience to our content and site, which has become a major destination for Australian sports fans.’

‘We’re always looking to provide our users with the best local, independent sport coverage,’ said Brian Boys, sport producer, Yahoo! Australia & NZ. ‘By folding Sportal’s great content into our current offering, we’re able to give fans a really comprehensive experience so they can stay on top of the games they love at one, easy to use site.’

The deal comes in the same week as Sportal made its first foray into the AFL market, with the launch of the new official website of the West Coast Eagles (http://www.westcoasteagles.com.au).

Sportal will also be launching a new website for one of Australia’s premier National Rugby League clubs in the next fortnight.
