LAUSANNE, Switzerland – The 2012 edition of SportAccord Convention received unprecedented live television news coverage around the world as international media focused on big stories coming out of the summit gathering of sport in Québec City from May 20-25.
NHK (Japan), Al Jazeera (Qatar) and Telemadrid (Spain) were among the broadcasters reporting live on the International Olympic Committee’s announcement of the shortlist of candidate cities for the 2020 Olympic Summer Games during the Convention. Canadian broadcasters Radio Canada and RDS also carried live news from the Québec City Convention Centre.
SportAccord Convention in Québec City was also the setting chosen by the IOC and the United States Olympic Committee for making their long-anticipated announcement of a revenue-sharing agreement, highlighting the event’s importance as a platform for breaking news. The tenth anniversary edition of SportAccord Convention attracted more than 1800 delegates representing over 860 organisations from around the world.

The next SportAccord Convention will take place in Saint Petersburg, Russia from May 26-31, 2013.
