SPECSAVERS OPTICIANS has written to Keith Hackett, general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), offering top tier match officials in England free eyetests following a spate of high profile contentious decisions on the pitch.
The UK’s largest optical retailer has sponsored Scottish football match officials since 2002 and offers all referees north of the border free eyetests and often free eyecare.
Doug Perkins, chairman of Specsavers Opticians, comments: ‘Our relationship with Scottish match officials has worked extremely well and we want to help their English counterparts in the same way. By offering them free eyetests, the public can at least be assured that they are receiving the best eyecare possible. Even if technology takes over from the human eye in certain decisions, this offer should certainly help the sport in the short term.’
For top tier match officials to receive their FREE eyetest, they should simply present their PGMOL membership card to their local store and book an appointment.
