In the wake of London 2012, Sochi 2014 and this summers’ FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the discussion about the social impact that sporting events have on a city is a hot topic.
Professor Stefan Szymanski from the University of Michigan and author of the best-selling book Soccernomics, is the latest high profile speaker to join the line-up at the International Sport Business Congress (ISBC). Szymanski will be analysing how cities are now investing considerable resources into sporting events and how sport is increasingly being used as a tool for economic and social revival within major cities.
Szymanski, who has been hailed as ‘one of the world’s leading sports economists,’ is an expert on business strategy of football and the economic history of sport. He has also acted as an advisor to some of the world’s most established sporting governing bodies and clubs.
Szymanski will be speaking on Day Two of the International Sport Business Congress event, on Friday, July 18, at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, alongside
