Media Pro, the leading broadcast facilities Spanish-based company and Amen Corner, the management company owned by Seve Ballesteros are jointly promoting the SEVE BALLESTEROS TROPHY, a PGA golf tournament where the best Continental Europe golf players will face the British Isles ones. This bi-annual tournament will become the biggest annual team golf competition during the years the Ryder’s cup is not being held. Seve Ballesteros and Colin Montgomerie (team captains) have confirmed the teams for the inaugural Seve Ballesteros Trophy to be played at Sunningdale Golf Club on April 14-16. Continental Europe will be represented by : Seve Ballesteros , the captain. Thomas Bj÷rn, Alex Cejka, Sergio GarcÝa, Miguel Angel JimÚnez, Bernhard Langer, JosÚ MarÝa Olazßbal, Jarmo Sandelin, Jean Van der Velde. Great Britain and Ireland will be represented by Colin Montgomerie, the captain. John Bickerton, Darren Clarke, Padraig Harrington, David Howell, Paul Lawrie, Gary Orr, Lee Westwood. The wild card selection is to be announced at a later date. The final place on the two ten-man teams will go to the leading player, not otherwise qualified from the 2000 Volvo order of merit as of 9th April to a floor of tenth place. A total of 26 points will be at stake through a series of foursomes, fourballs, greensomes and singles, with each member of the winning team receiving 150.000 euro(aprox.BP92.000,-) and the runners-up 90.000,- euro (aprox. BP 55.000,-). The Seve Ballesteros Trophy will not only be launched in the new millennium but it will also mark the 100th anniversary of the Old Course laid out by at Sunningdale by twice Open Champion Willie Park. Sunningdale has hosted numerous European Tour events including most recently the European Open in addition to the British Masters, The Darks Golf Tournament, the PGA Matchplay Tournament, the Hennessey Cognac Cup and the Walker Cup.
