IEC in Sports, the Stockholm based sport agency, today announced that Magnus Malmros will join the company working with special projects.

Earlier this fall IEC agreed a deal with IAAF on World Athletics Series for Europe and Africa 2010-13. A familiar area for Magnus, who has worked with major events at EBU.

Malmros has over 15 years of experience from the TV Sports industry, starting at Eurosport in 1994. Malmros then worked at IEC in Sports between 1997 – 1998, before being recruited to the EBU where he spent more than 6 years. At the EBU, Malmros was responsible for the summer sports, including the relationships with the IOC for the Summer Olympics, IAAF, EAA, UCI, French and Australian Open in tennis etc. Malmros left the EBU to become CEO of TV4 Sport-Expressen and now rejoins IEC in Sports for a second stint. Malmros brings experience of media rights, financing, production and project management.

The first project for Malmros will be the international club team tournament in Marbella, Copa del Sol, where top teams from Scandinavia, Russia and Ukraine will compete for at total prize purse of SEK 2 Million.

Malmros comments on his new appointment: “I have great respect for IEC’s ability to be innovative in the sports marketing business with its wide experience and central position in the industry, combined with a never ending enthusiasm for developing the same. I hope to be able to bring my experience and perspective form the EBU and TV companies to strengthen IEC in its next step of growth.”
