Scotland are once again to face the Barbarians in a star-studded finale to the season. The match – part of the 2001 Scottish Amicable Tour – will be played at Murrayfield on Thursday 24 May with a 7.15pm kick-off.

‘We’re delighted to welcome back the Barbarians to Murrayfield and I’m sure Ian McGeechan and the Scotland players will be looking to avenge the narrow defeat sustained in last year’s meeting,’ said SRU Marketing and Commercial Director Phil Anderton.

Following the success of the Autumn Tests’ ticket pricing at Murrayfield, there are again attractive prices for this match. Adult tickets are priced at £15, £20 and £25 with tickets for students and under-18s at £5 and £10. Tickets are available from the SRU Ticket Centre at Murrayfield; the Ticketmaster credit card hotline service on 0870 444 4221; or online at www.ticketmaster.co.uk.

Last season Scotland lost 42-45 to a Barbarians side which included Zinzan Brooke, Lawrence Dallaglio, Scott Gibbs and Neil Jenkins. That match was part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of Murrayfield Stadium. Already this season, the Barbarians have attracted a near full-house to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for an epic clash against South Africa.

An announcement on the Barbarians squad for this year’s Scottish Amicable Tour will be made in March.
