Samsung Electronics, one of the global leaders in the electronics industry, has signed on as the exclusive platinum sponsor for ESPN Latin America’s World Cup news and information coverage, it was announced today by Michael Fox, vice president worldwide advertising sales, ESPN International.

The core of the package includes extensive exposure for Samsung on SportsCenter, the preeminent sports news and information program in Latin America, and on ESPNdeportes.com, the network’s Spanish-language website.

Beginning this month and lasting until the end of World Cup play in June, Samsung will sponsor SportsCenter World Cup features, including previews of the tournament and daily updates. In conjunction with Samsung’s exposure on SportsCenter, the brand will also appear on ESPNdeportes.com on a special page fully dedicated to the World Cup. Contents include a section featuring scores, live results, and pre-game and post-game analysis.

In addition, Samsung will also be the sponsor of interactive chat sessions with SportsCenter anchor Quique Wolff.

Also included in the package is Samsung’s sponsorship of World Cup vignettes, such as player profiles and team profiles, that will appear on ESPN during major programming in primetime. Samsung will also sponsor ESPN’s 28/58’s, World Cup updates that appear at the bottom of the screen at approximately 28 and 58 minutes after each hour. Samsung will also receive additional exposure on Gol ESPN Extra, one of ESPN Latin America’s premier magazine shows, and on ESPN’s coverage of the Spanish Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

The ESPN Latin America network, one of four ESPN networks televised in the region, is the most-widely distributed pan-regional sports network in Latin America, reaching more than 14.5 million households.
