Grays of Cambridge, the world’s leading supplier of top quality cricket bats and hockey sticks, has acquired the name and assets of James Gilbert, the worlds leading supplier of top quality rugby balls and equipment as used in the majority of international games its Receiver,
PricewaterhouseCoopers. The two family companies were both founded in the early 1800’s and share extraordinarily similar backgrounds.

Sales Director Richard Gray says ‘Acquiring Gilberts will enable us to combine the expertise of the two organisations and give us a unique opportunity to expand the Grays and Gilberts businesses. It will enhance both brands eputation for quality and excellence worldwide and will be a truly synergistic match’

Grays remains a family business with all executive Board Members having the name Gray. The company has an unrivalled reputation for innovation as suppliers of cricket and hockey equipment (trading under the Gray-Nicolls and Grays banners respectively) and is also well known for its racquets. Their handmade cricket bats, crafted in Robertsbridge, have been used by many giants of the game from Grace to Hussain.

Acquiring Gilberts with its own worldwide standing and prestige can only increase the leading position of both brands.
