Dr Ismail Jakoet, the South African Rugby Football Union’s
Medical Consultant, has been appointed onto the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Ethics and Education Committee. This appointment underlines the high regard in which Jakoet is being held worldwide and by other sports authorities.

His nomination was presented to and formally approved by the WADA Executive Committee at their meeting on 6 March in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The WADA Ethics and Education Working Committee convenes its meetings three to four times per year. The next meeting is expected to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah in mid September 2001 in association with a WADA Media Forum.

Rian Oberholzer, SARFU CEO, expressed his delight. ‘We at SARFU are particularly proud of Ismail’s appointment, especially of the recognition that comes from beyond our code’s immediate fraternity.’
