The Rugby Football League has appointed Simon Malcolm as Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications.

Mr Malcolm joins the RFL from the regeneration company Partners IN Salford, based in Greater Manchester, where he was Director of Marketing.

Prior to this he worked for Otto UK Homeshopping, part of the global mail order and retail giant Otto Versand, in a variety of senior marketing roles including Group Head of E-Commerce.

A former journalist, Mr Malcolm said of his appointment:  “This is a great time to be joining the RFL. The game is growing and there are exciting plans in place to develop Rugby League into one of the country’s premier sports brands.

“I aim to bring my expertise in brand marketing and e-commerce to complement the strong commercial and media team already in place at the RFL”.

Commenting on the appointment, the Rugby Football League Executive Chairman Richard Lewis said: “We are delighted to welcome Simon Malcolm to the RFL and we believe his experience in major business environments can assist the organisation and the sport with its plans for continued growth and development.

“Simon has enjoyed great success in his previous roles and we look forward to working with him and to his contributions to our collective aims”.

Simon Malcolm takes up his duties with immediate effect.
