At its meeting held on April 3rd 2000 at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, UEFA’s Executive Committee approved a proposal submitted by the Bureau of the Committee for the European Championship with a view to simplifying procedures prior to EURO 2000 and, at the same time, making life a little bit easier for the sixteen coaches who will be taking their national teams to Belgium and the Netherlands. The Executive Committee agreed with a proposal to abolish the preliminary list of 35 players which, according to the regulations, should have been submitted to UEFA by 10 May 2000. The Committee also agreed to adjust the deadline for submitting the final list of 22 players to UEFA. The original regulations stipulated that the squad had to be registered with UEFA by midnight on 31 May 2000. However, many of the participating teams will play preparation matches during the evening of Wednesday 31 May, so UEFA agrees that it makes sense to allow coaches and doctors a margin of time in order to assess the extent of any injuries sustained during those matches before taking definitive decisions on the composition of the squad. The deadline for submitting the final list of 22 players is now 12.00 on Thursday 1 June 2000. Source: UEFA Click here for a direct link to UEFA’s website
