Real Madrid has now licensed a new design for its ‘numbers and letters’ for imprinting onto its official kit. The new style, a faithful reproduction of the same as used by the first team players, has a universal method of application.

The innovative design will be included exclusively in the ‘Adidas-Real Madrid collection’ for the 2003 – 2004 season, for football kit and basketball kits and will be available at the end of July.

The new typestyle has been developed exclusively for Real Madrid by the international company Chris Kay, using advanced technical design and transfer application. This application technology known as ‘Art-Tex’ is a complex six layer process. ‘Art-Tex’ has a soft feel, is dry, light and can be ironed without any problem. Once applied, it has increased elasticity and is free from organotin compounds. ‘Art- Tex’ is certified to official standard Öko Tex 100 Class 1.

The new typestyle has two colour versions to contrast with the kit. White kit has the numbers and players names in black letters outlined by a gold coloured line. Typestyle for the coloured kit will be white outlined in black. Both kits will carry the club shield in each numeral.

With this initiative, Real Madrid is taking another step in its fight against the sale of pirated goods. The exclusivity of this new typestyle will make copying more difficult and guarantees the quality and authenticity of the goods to fans and distributors.
