Puma AG and Jordan Grand Prix have signed an agreement through which the German-based athletic footwear, apparel and accessory company will become an official supplier to the team.

One of the most famous sports brands in the world, Puma has a global distribution base in over 80 countries world wide and an agreement with Jordan represents a partnership with one of the most high profile teams in Formula One.

In recent years Puma has diversified its brand image and products to become the alternative sports brand, but has remained focused on four key values: heritage, sports performance, technological innovation and challenge. The new relationship with Jordan, and the world of Formula One, underlines this further.

Initially Puma will supply both footwear and team apparel to all the members of the Benson and Hedges Jordan Honda team, though the relationship will extend into other areas, details of which will be released later in the year.

‘It is always good to welcome a new partner into our team,’ said Jordan’s Chief Executive Eddie Jordan. ‘In the case of Puma I am particularly pleased because it is such a famous name within the world of sport, and as a sports fan I am very familiar with the company and its products. The presentation of the team is very important, and the personnel attending races and tests also need to have clothing that meets very tough criteria. In Puma I believe we could not wish for a better partner.’

‘Puma is continuously looking for new and creative ways to market its products. We like the challenge and competitiveness in the field of Formula One racing,’ said Martin Gansler, Vice Chairman of Puma AG. ‘It is a wonderful opportunity to supply high performance product using our experience and technologies to one of the most competitive and exciting Formula One teams. We believe that this relationship will have a lot of potential for new, innovative concepts in the future.’

The relationship between Jordan and Puma is a long-term agreement with the Puma name being carried on the clothing and race wear of all Jordan team personnel, and also on the drivers’ and pit crew overalls.
