Pan-american Sports Network -PSN- the leading panregional pay TV sports network in Latin America, announced today that will broadcast live and exclusive for Latin America (except Argentina where will be broadcast delayed) the Copa Toyota Intercontinental final which will take place in Tokio, Japan, on November 27.
For the second consecutive year, PSN will broadcast for the Latin American audience the game from which will come out the World Champion of 2001.
The Copa Intercontinental final will bring face to face the Copa Libertadores of America champion, the Argentinian Boca Juniors, and the Champions League of Europe winner, Bayern Munich.
‘The Copa Toyota Intercontinental is one the most important events of PSN and the audience results from last years edition shows how passionate the Latin American public is with this sort of event.
‘Despite being a game that is broadcast live very early in the morning/ at dawn, the fans won’t miss the date to see who will be the World Champion’, said Luis Baraldi, Executive Vice President of PSN.
Boca Juniors is the current World Champion and accomplished something very special winning both the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Intercontinental.
In last year’s edition of Copa Intercontinental Boca Juniors knocked down Real Madrid and in this year’s Copa Libertadores Boca Juniors defeated Mexican Cruz Azul. On the other hand, Bayern Munich became the European monarch after beating Spanish team Valencia in the Champions League final.
As a preamble of the November 27 match, PSN will air a one hour special program called Boca Juniors-Bayern Munich, the match of the year, which will premiere on Monday, November 26, at 9.00 pm. The special show will look over the passion for football in Munich and Buenos Aires, and also in Tokyo, the city where the Copa Intercontinental has been featured during the last 21 years.
The special show will also get closer to the followers and supporters of both teams, and will have special reports and interviews with the Latin American top players of both teams: Roque Santa Cruz, Paulo Sergio, Giovanni Elber and Claudio Pizarro (Bayern) and Riquelme, Chicho Serna, and Oscar Córdoba (Boca), among others. There will be also a journey throughout the history and all the Copa Intercontinental champions from the first winner Real Madrid to Boca Juniors, the 2000 edition champion.
