Prost Grand Prix is pleased to announce the signing of a three-year agreement with French tyre manufacturer Michelin.

Starting with the 2001 F1 season, Prost Grand Prix will be equipped with Michelin tyres.

‘Michelin have been working very hard this year and we are confident that they will be very competitive from the start of the season. I am pleased we will be working with them’ said Prost Grand Prix’s President Alain Prost.

‘Next year’s car will be a big improvement in all areas and we are looking forward to next season,’ he continued. ‘We have now one of the best engine-packages (supplied by Ferrari). Top F1 management like Joan Villadelprat and Henri Durand have joined the team and the technical department has been completely reorganised. The new partnership with Pedro Diniz has provided us with the resources needed to develop the team further.’

This week Prost Grand Prix will hold a four-day test session at the Barcelona circuit (Dec 12th-15th). The cars will run with Peugeot engines and the team will test a number of evolutions for next year’s car with the new Michelin tyres.

The team, who has not yet chosen their second driver for the 2001 season, will test throughout the four days with Jean Alesi, while a second car will run some young drivers.

The test in Barcelona marks the end of our partnership with Peugeot Sport. The team takes the opportunity to thank the mechanics’ and the engineers’ team for all their work.
