The overwhelming success of the brand’s O3 racquets in tennis has led Prince to rush the UK launch of O3 Squash for the 2005/06 season.
The pioneering new racquet series will be launched at the 2005 British Open Squash Championships in Manchester next week, followed by a nationwide UK availability in mid-November.
England’s former world No1 Peter Nicol, a Prince ambassador for more than 14 years, switched to a prototype of the new racquet this summer – and went on to win two major titles with the O3 Tour!
The rejuvenated Prince star celebrated his 50th major international title when he crushed France’s world champion Thierry Lincou in the final of the World Games in Germany. A month later, he won the English Open to secure his second successive trophy with the new O3 without dropping a game!
“The new racquet represents, without doubt, a significant new development by Prince,” explained Nicol, a double Commonwealth Games gold medallist. “The sweetspot is huge and the added power off the wall pays huge dividends – I will definitely be using the racket all the time from now on.”
There are two rackets in the new series – the O3 Tour (RRP: £150) and O3 Silver Extender (RRP: £130).
Prince’s new O3 technology is the first significant development in racquet technology since the late eighties when racquets changed from wood to graphite. The O3-engineered racquets provide a large sweet spot in a manoeuvrable and aerodynamic frame. Prince re-engineered traditional pin-sized string holes into giant O-Ports, providing total string freedom for a livelier response across the entire string bed. This expands the conventional sweet spot in racquets by up to 54%, turning it into a Sweet Zone!
Peter Nicol will personally autograph 25 triple-racquet Prince squash bags at the British Open, and the first 25 purchasers of a new O3 racquet will also receive one these bags, which retail at £30, free!
“Prince revolutionised squash in the eighties with the launch of the Extender racquet,” explained Bob Johnson, Director of Solo Sports, distributors of Prince in the UK. “Following the overwhelming success of the launch in tennis earlier this year, we are confident that O3 will now represent the next major racquet innovation in squash.”
