The giant London 2012 flag, which has been signed by a host of sporting starts and TV celebrities, reached Downing Street today where the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, added his name.

The Prime Minister, who will travel to Singapore to underline the Government’s backing for London’s 2012 bid, said: “We have a fantastic bid that is generating huge enthusiasm and inspiring young people across the country.

“Research tells us that London is the No 1 destination for young people.  So we are uniquely placed to spread the ideals of the Olympic Movement to children all around the world through hosting the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.”

Mr Blair was joined by children from east London and Sebastian Coe, Chairman of London 2012, who added: “With exactly two weeks to go in the campaign our momentum continues to build. The 2012 race is just too close to call.”
