Paris, 5 July 2004 – With exactly 365 days before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decide the Host City for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games (6 July, 2005), Paris City Hall has become the symbolic centrepiece of Paris Olympic aspirations as it was spectacularly draped in the colours of Paris 2012 – part of the biggest branding exercise ever seen in Paris.

The colourful campaign is a key part of the Paris 2012 mobilisation of national support, an important aspect in convincing the IOC of its will and capacity to become a Host City. The Bid Committee already enjoys strong backing from the Parisians and French people, along with the commitment of its political, sports and business communities.

Philippe Baudillon, CEO of Paris 2012 said:

‘What better way to demonstrate to the world our Bid slogan, ‘L’Amour des Jeux’ than to proudly hang it on our City Hall? We chose this slogan to reflect the synergy of needs and aspirations that Paris wants to develop with the Olympic family. Paris and France have a deep and historic love of the Olympic Games. The slogan encompasses the French passion for hosting the Games in 2012.’

The French ‘Amour des Jeux’ will resonate during all summer in several events in the Capital City and throughout the country.

Meanwhile the Paris 2012 team of technical, transport, security and environmental experts is concentrating its efforts in preparing the strongest Candidature File possible for delivery to the IOC on the 15 November 2004.
