Paddy Power, Ireland’s biggest bookmaker, are delighted to announce a major sponsorship initiative involving five of the world’s leading snooker stars from the 110sport management group.
Paddy Power Bookmaker branding will appear on the players’ waistcoats for the remainder of the 2002/03 season by former world champions Mark Williams and Ken Doherty, ranked No.2 and No.5 in the world respectively, world No.11 Mark King, former British Open winner Fergal O’Brien, and Asia’s leading professional Marco Fu, when they compete in all forthcoming ranking and invitational events.
The five wore the Paddy Power waistcoats for the first time during the recent LG Cup at Preston, with Dubliner O’Brien making it a spectacular winning start for the new partnership when defeating reigning world champion Peter Ebdon.
The quintet will be appearing in the British Open, UK Championship, Regal Welsh Open, the Irish Masters and European Open, Regal Scottish Open and Embassy World Championship, while Williams, Doherty and King are also guaranteed places at the B&H Masters at Wembley in February.
Celebrating the announcement, Irish sporting legend Ken Doherty said: ‘We are always delighted to welcome new sponsors into the game. In Paddy Power as a major sponsor, we will be representing and working with a business who are as ambitious as ourselves.
‘I believe the commitment and innovation which will come from this partnership will work for Paddy Power, the players, and 110sport.’
