From next Monday people ordering Olympic Games tickets through the 13 72 79 ticket hotline will need to collect them.

Tickets will be available for collection from August 1 at box offices selling Olympic Games tickets in NSW.

‘The Your Ticket Sunday program will deliver tickets to those Australians whose tickets were ordered and paid for before June 24 this year,’ said Mr Michael Eyers, the deputy chief executive for the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG).

‘We will soon be announcing ticket delivery arrangements for customers who have purchased tickets by phone, between June 24 and this weekend,’ he said.

‘But today’s announcement means that all tickets purchased from Monday on will be issued and collected at box offices.’

Mr Eyers said people who ordered tickets by phone from next Monday onwards and paid by Visa would be able to collect their tickets from August 1. However, customers who pay by cheque will not be able to collect their tickets until September 4 (to allow time for their payments to clear).

Tickets will be available for collection from box offices at any time until the event, although Mr Eyers cautioned people against delaying collecting their tickets because of an expected increase in box office sales activity and queues closer to Games time.

Customers will need the account number given to them by the call centre, and some photo identification like a driver’s licence, to collect their tickets from a box office. Staff will confirm the customer’s order in the computer and the ticket/s will be printed on the spot.

‘At present interstate box offices only issue tickets for Olympic Football events at the local venue,’ Mr Eyers said.

‘We are asking the interstate box offices to print tickets for Sydney events and we hope to announce soon that tickets ordered by phone for Sydney events can be collected at interstate box offices.

‘This would be in addition to the arrangements announced today for tickets to be collected from box offices in New South Wales.’
