The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today in Lausanne nominated ten candidates for membership to the IOC in accordance with Rule 20 and its bye-laws of the Olympic Charter.
The IOC Session, the assembly of all its members, will vote to elect these candidates as IOC members during the 113 th Session in Salt Lake City that will take place from 4 to 6 February 2002.

The 113 th IOC Session will also elect on 23 February four active athletes who themselves will have been elected by their peers to the Athletes’ Commission. The two members elected with the highest number of votes of the athletes will be elected for a term of eight years, and the two members with the next highest number of votes will be elected for a term of four years.
Candidates who have not been selected by the Executive Board for election during the 113 th IOC Session will nonetheless remain as applicants for future consideration.
