Basketball Ireland have announced a one-year sponsorship deal, which provides NIVEA for Men with a comprehensive package of rights and benefits in association with the Men’s SuperLeague, the premier men’s basketball league in the country. The sponsorship will provide a platform for NIVEA to engage the hearts and minds of its customers, through the thousands of people all over Ireland who follow and support SuperLeague every week.
Karl Donnelly General Manager of the NIVEA for Men SuperLeague welcomed the deal, saying, ‘We see this as a partnership with mutual opportunities in developing our businesses and we look forward to a successful year ahead.
We are naturally delighted to have the opportunity to work with such a succesful brand as NIVEA for Men. The fact that Basketball Ireland has re-branded just before a new sponsor has come on board allows the sponsorship to be presented in a really refreshing way’.
Donnelly continued, ‘The deal brings together two very ambitious organisations. NIVEA for Men are already clear leaders in their market place. We are determined to establish ourselves as the premier indoor and winter based sporting league in Ireland.
The deal is not purely based on media awareness but very much on the success of both brands. Together we look forward to running some innovative promotions, not just for the SuperLeague teams but for followers of the SuperLeague also’.
The NIVEA for Men SuperLeague is played over a six month period from September until March and the 2004/05 season is already up and running. Twelve teams compete, with between six and ten games played every week, and the season culminates in an end of season playoff.
NIVEA for Men Brand manager, Lynn Harford said, ‘This major involvement with basketball in Ireland perfectly complements the NIVEA for Men brand. The NIVEA for Men SuperLeague appeals to our prime target markets and it is growing all the time, in terms of the exposure and the public relations benefits that it provides.’
