BLM today announced that it has launched a sports marketing company. Run by Andy Clilverd and Robin Clarke, BLM Sports Marketing has already been appointed by a number of clients; Thomas Cook are using the company to help exploit their sponsorship of Manchester City and to actively search out other opportunities in sport. Ian Derbyshire, Director of Trade Relations at Thomas Cook stated:
‘Many so-called sports marketing agencies simply match money with events, like estate agents and property. We appointed BLM Sports Marketing because they start with the business need and provide tailored and fully accountable solutions.’
Fullers are working with BLM Sports Marketing to help exploit their existing involvement with rugby and cricket as well as exploring new opportunities. David Spencer, Beer and Brands Manager for Fullers commented:
‘We have worked with Andy and Robin before and the ‘client first’ attitude that they consistently demonstrate in all commercial dealings allows us to treat BLM Sports Marketing as an extension of our own brand team.’
Additionally, BLM Sports Marketing has also been appointed by Lambretta Clothing and on two other confidential projects. The company is also working with existing BLM clients to find ways to bring sport into their communications mix. Andy Clilverd, MD BLM Sports Marketing said:
‘I want to demonstrate that sport can pay back as a communication channel and that it needs to be treated as seriously as other media channels. Clients like Thomas Cook are very serious about sport and I am very excited to be working with them in such a different way.’
Charlie Makin, COO BLM said:
‘BLM is at an extremely exciting stage of development, we are winning a lot of dynamic clients and there are a lot of opportunities where sport can play a critical role. Sport needs to be treated as a serious communication tool and included early in the strategic process. We have built our business organically and this is an obvious direction for us to go.’
Both Andy and Robin have several years experience in sports marketing and have worked on behalf of several clients and rights holders throughout their careers.
BLM has won £33 million of new business this year, with 5 wins including Tele 2 and Lastminute.com
