New Members of the FIVB Board of Administration and Executive Board

Mr. Theofaris Tsiokris (Greece) has been named in the FIVB Executive Committee on Friday in Seville on the third and last day of the FIVB Congress, after having been elected in the Board of Administration.

Mr. Tsiokris, who should facilitate future relations between the FIVB and the Organising Committee of the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, has been elected to replace Mr. Franz Schmied (Switzerland). He had asked to retire at the end of the year.

Mr. Vicente Araujo (Portugal) and Mr. Ahmad Essa Hamza (Koweit) have also been elected in the FIVB Board of Administration to replace Mr. Jawad Khalaf Hassem (Koweit) who is resigning, and Mr. Franz Schmied.

Mr. Schmied held the posts in the Executive Committee, Board of Adminstration as well as the functions of Treasurer and President of the Finance Commission.

In the new organigramme of the FIVB, the Treasurer’s post does not exist any more. FIVB financial affaires will be entrusted to the future appointed General Director, whereas the presidence of the Finance Commission had been entrusted to Mr. Herman Van Zwieten (Netherlands).
