PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Gravity Games announced today that ten additional athletes have qualified for this summer’s event. Nearly 250 athletes will compete in the premier sports, lifestyle and music festival presented by NBC Sports and emap usa and held in Providence, Rhode Island on July 15-23. For the second year, the Gravity Games are managed by Octagon Marketing, a leading global sports marketing agency.

The subsequent NBC broadcast of the summer Gravity Games will reach over 120 million homes worldwide throughout October and November.

In keeping with its mission to create the world’s premier adrenaline sports and lifestyle festival, the Gravity Games, presented by NBC Sports and emap usa, rewards world-class athletes for success in other alternative competitions. The field of competitors is chosen from the winners of the best events and tours from around the world. Last year’s event brought together one of the strongest field of competitors ever assembled in an alternative sports competition. This talented international field of athletes walked away with the largest prize purse ever awarded in these sports.

The 2000 Summer Gravity Games features 16 events in seven different alternative sports including aggressive in-line skating, bike, downhill skateboarding, freestyle motocross, skateboarding, street luge and wakeboarding. Competitions are contested on innovative downhill, water, vertical, dirt and street courses, which have been designed with the input of top athletes in each sport.
