More Fed Cup Quarterfinal and Play-off Venues Confirmed
Most of the venues for the Fed Cup Quarterfinals and Play-off ties have now been confirmed.
The Spain v France quarterfinal will be held at the Escuela de Tenis Municipal Parque del Oeste, Oviedo, Spain. An outdoor clay court will be used.
The Federation Royale Belge de Tennis (FBT) have elected to hold their quarterfinal Fed Cup tie against Slovak Republic on 19-20 July 2003 at the Spiroudome in Charleroi.
The newly built Spiroudome, which was opened in October 2002, was constructed to house basketball matches. A temporary hardcourt will be laid. It is likely that all of the 6200 seats would be sold out as Belgium crowds come out to support their World Class Fed Cup team of Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin-Hardenne.
The Slovenia v Russia quarterfinal will be held at the SRC Marina Portoroz in Portoro, on an outdoor clay court. It was used in July 2002 for Slovenia’s World Group Play-off tie when they overcame Ukraine 4-1.
Tennis Australia have chosen to host the Australia v Colombia Play-off tie indoors on a hardcourt in Wollongong, south of Sydney, July 19-20.
The Japan v Swden Play-off will take place at the DEAI Dome at Gifu Memorial Center, Gifu, Japan, on an indoor carpet court, while the Gelora Bung Karno Tennis Stadium, Jakarta, Indonesia will host the Indonesia v Germany tie on an outdoor hard court.
Croatia v Brazil will take place at the Teniski Klub Varteks, Varazdin, Croatia, on an outdoor clay court, and the Austria v Canada tie will be held at the Tennis und Sportcenter Neudorfl, Neudorfl, Austria, again on an outdoor clay court.
Up-to-date information on all Fed Cup venues and ticketing arrangements will be posted here on the site, in the Ties and Draws & Results sections, as they become available.
